Tarantula Dinner Party eats melodies for lunch and stained glass for dinner. A long-distance home recording project that seeks to unsettle the melodically-inclined ear, TDP's crunchy, mid-fi tunes are informed by lightning storms and rust as much as they are '70s power pop and '90s indie rock. Imagine looking through a cracked, dirty window at an abandoned glue factory and you're halfway there.
John W. (vocals, guitar), James Focht (guitar) and Chris Jones (bass) ave moved between drum machines and live drummers over the course of TDP's two releases, the "Have a Seat" EP (2003) and "All the Marbles" soundtrack (2006). Their latest excursion finds veteran drummer Rocky Twarek behind the skins. Fuzz-laden vocals, bedrock bass and rumbling distortion weave between leaden beats of glacial cadence. If you can't decide between pseudo-death metal or blurry indie rock, maybe you should come to the dinner party.
