Did you lock
your doors? Is your gun loaded? And is that your dog, taking a piss on the
rusted robots? You might want to think about these things before invoking
the name of Bullet Gastino, the resident lo-fi sound militia from the muggy
Ohio countryside.
This strapping
pack of pseudo-militaristic lads create “what death metal would sound
like recorded on a cheap four-track, possibly by a family of bisexual mannequins.”
(Sponic 9/21/02) Bizarre, melodic, and textured, their experimental songs
are caught somewhere between dream and nightmare. Indie rock vocals cling
to ‘80s drum beats and hard rock guitars like children on a flaming
roller coaster from hell.
The band released two albums for Circuit Records and Friendly Psychics Music (their self-titled debut and the follow-up II) before a botched kidnapping sent them to a backwoods Georgia penitentiary. They may release another album if their parole officer ever lets them. If you see them, tell them the sheep suits are ready.
